Andrew Lansley has been the Conservative Party’s health spokesman since 2003 and has represented the Cambridgeshire South constituency since his election in 1997.
Widely praised for his detailed knowledge of the health service, speaking in April 2010 he said: “Over the last six years I have become someone who is committed to the NHS who happens to be in politics, not an emissary from politics to the NHS.”
