Despite the Government’s commitment to provide a real-terms increase in the overall NHS budget, the NHS must realise £20bn of efficiency savings by 2015.
Whether or not they have a strong financial base, all NHS organisations face difficult decisions about the future and the scale of the challenge requires fundamental changes to the way care is provided.
This strand will explore the new financial reality, with sessions examining how other health economies have addressed difficult financial circumstances, looking at some of the implications of continued low funding growth for the NHS, and highlighting potential responses.
