How the system is shaping - looking to the future

Reforms associated with the Health and Social Care Bill and other changes, including the emphasis on patient choice, competition and integrated care, all have significant implications for how NHS services will be commissioned, provided and regulated in future.

This strand will explore how the new system will operate in practice to shape high-quality and patient-centred services at the same time as facing up to enormous financial challenges. It will help inform delegates’ understanding of the new system by considering how it will operate for patients across care pathways, and how quality and financial failure will be dealt with in the new system.
